Starting Small and Partnering Up: Collaboration and Mentoring in Publishing
Susanne Markgren, Digital Services Librarian at Purchase College, SUNY
Writing for the profession (and trying to get published) can be an intimidating and stressful venture for both new librarians and seasoned librarians alike. This presentation will offer tips on how to start small and think about alternative publishing venues, while emphasizing the importance of collaboration and mentoring in the writing and publishing processes.
11:15am-12:15pm: Session II
Research Boot Camp for Librarians
Dr. Selany Aytac, Associate Professor, Long Island University
This research boot camp is designed to help librarians who would like to publish an article in a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal. This will be an interactive session; participants are asked to bring research ideas and interests to the event.
1:15pm-2:15pm: Session III
From Idea to Print: How to Get a Book Published
Charles Harmon, Executive Editor at Rowman & Littlefield Publishers
This presentation will provide a basic overview of the book publishing process and will focus on library and information studies books programs. Both books aimed at working librarians as well as textbooks for LIS programs will be covered. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
